Spigots

Spigots (or base clamps) are one of our most popular frameless systems. Simple to install and modern looking they are a cost effective solution for an frameless balustrade installation.

You should plan to use 2 x spigots for each 1m panel of glass. The spigots should be set 200mm in from the ends of each panel of glass. We would recommend combing our spigots with a either a slotted tube handrail or glass stiffener. This will eliminate any movement at the top of the panel of glass.

In stainless steel, we stock two different types of spigot or base clamp. The first spigot is for 12mm – 17.5mm glass and the second spigot is for 12mm glass only. For the 12mm-17.5mm spigots we supply as standard a number of different gaskets to fit whichever glass thickness you need. You will almost always also need the cover for the spigot. The base covers for the spigots that we offer are slightly different for each spigot. Please take care to select the correct spigot cover.

Should you need them, we can also supply all of the fixings that you need to secure your spigots. If you are fixing your spigot to concrete, we can supply an M8 x 80mm concrete screw which is made from zinc. If you are fixing your spigot to steel, we can supply an M8 x 30mm Taptite screw which is also made from zinc. If you are fixing your spigot to timber (which is not tested) we can supply an M8 x 80mm wood screw which is made from zinc. As with all other glass fixings, our spigots are not tested when fixed to timber.

We distribute our Spig Lite fixings on behalf of Pure Vista. They are branded as Spig Lite Advanced. Spig Lite advanced is simple to install and adjust thanks to its patented screw clamp technology. There is a torque setting within the spigot which gives you confidence that the spigot (or base clamp) is fitted correctly. The Spigot now has the option of an end cap to hide the internals of the system. The Spig Lite advanced spigot is available in anodised graphite grey or raw aluminium which will need to be powder coated or treated to prevent corrosion.
