Origin Architectural recently completed this balustrade installation on the outskirts of Glasgow. The customer wanted black balustrades to match the bi-fold doors that were looking out over his garden.
The customer did not want a handrail. We decided that the best way to proceed was to use our custom-made posts which we could then send to be powder coated. We removed the clamps from the posts to make sure that the powder coating covered all of the posts and the clamps. The customer decided they wanted the posts in matt (rather than gloss) black. They were needed on a very quick lead time. We were able to deliver the posts that were completely powder-coated on-site within a week.
To save time on the glass we used our new software to calculate the widths of each panel. The height of each panel was 1010mm. The top of the glass was parallel with the top of the post. This left a gap of 80mm at the bottom of the panel. Once the software had generated the images, the proposed sizes were sent to the customer for approval. Once approved we managed to have the glass panels on-site and ready to install within a week.
The customer was absolutely delighted with the end result. He commented on how easy it was to install. We had already supplied all of the fixings. All that was needed was 4 x fixings through the bottom of the base plate into the decking. The glass was then slotted into the clamps. The entire installation took less than a day. This installation in Glasgow could not have gone better!
