Origin Architectural recently completed this supply of a glass balustrade in Newcastle, to a customer not far from the river Tyne.
The customer did not want to have a handrail. The drop from the finished floor level was more than 600mm. The customer was fitting into concrete. To ensure that the customer complied with building regulations we recommended that they use 17.5mm glass. The customer was fitting into a steel joist. We subsequently recommended that the customer use our Quality Fit channel system. We did this on the basis of the look of the profile and the ease of installation.
The customer was having a party at this house to celebrate his son’s 21st. He wanted the balustrade completed as quickly as possible. This was no problem for us. Using our new smart builder software we were able to completely design the whole balustrade (including the glass sizes). The customer was really impressed with the software. He was originally concerned that he would have to install the channel first and then come back to confirm his final glass sizes. This software saved an enormous amount of time and was completely accurate!
We supplied the customer with a torque wrench which allowed him to accurately fix the steel bolts which attached the profile to the steel girders. The customer was absolutely delighted with the end result and kindly left us a glowing review. To read our reviews click here.
