Tinted Glass Balustrade in Crewe

Origin Architectural recently worked with a customer to complete this beautifully tinted glass balustrade in Crewe. This customer wanted a glass balustrade for the outside edge of his decking, the purpose to act as a privacy screen/ whilst not interfering with their view. They opted for a Cesario Glass Balustrade with grey tinted glass using 316-grade stainless steel which is more durable and suitable for outdoors.

The customer was unclear about the measurements for his balustrade so we worked with him to specify the metal work he needed, including the bespoke posts, handrail, and handrail components such as; the handrail corner and end caps. We recommended the customer install the posts first then come back to us once the installation was complete to confirm the final glass measurements to ensure the glass balustrade fitted perfectly. He did this by measuring the inside of the post to the inside of the post and deducted 40mm. This gives an 8mm tolerance. He opted for grey tinted glass, our other colour options for tinted glass include blue and bronze as well as alternatives of sandblasted and satin obscura (perfect for complete privacy).

Installing the Glass Balustrade

This balustrade system was a lockdown DIY project for our customer and since it is an easy system to install, on this occasion we did not contact an installer, however, if you are not an avid DIY enthusiast no need to worry we have contact a range of installers across the country. If you’re debating having a handrail to make it easier to install building regulations would ask whether the decking is 600mm or over from ground level to ensure it is safe. This balustrade is 1100mm tall to comply with building regulations.
